EMISSIONS & INSPECTIONS
Vehicles produce a lot of air pollutants that are harmful to the environment. Making sure the exhaust systems on our vehicles are in proper working order helps eliminate some of the excess air contaminants.
EMISSIONS & INSPECTIONS
Cars make a significant contribution to overall emissions of CO2 in Ireland. Additionally, and especially in urban areas, road transport is also one of the major sources of emissions which are harmful to human health.
Eco driving - The future of road transport
While the motor industry continues to reduce emissions with improvements in technology, other stakeholders also have a vital role to play. Fuel-efficient driving, or “eco-driving”, can significantly reduce fuel consumption and lower Co2 emissions.
Eco-driving training can lead to a fuel economy of up to 25%, with a significant long-term effect of 7% under everyday driving conditions. The European Climate Change Programme calculated that the reduction potential of Co2 emissions from eco-driving would be in the range of 50 million tonnes of Co2 emissions in Europe by 2010. Other research (by the independent scientific institute TNO), carried out in 2006 also clearly indicates that eco-driving is highly cost-effective in delivering Co2 savings.
